Johnson Matthey Noble Metals is a long-established supplier of platinum group metals (PGMs) and is the only global fabricator offering a complete range of complementing PGM technologies for glass manufacturers - ACT® platinum coating; fabrication; cladding and lining; thermocouple and assembly; iridium technology; precious metal recovery.

ACT®

A proven technology for ceramic protection, with coating thicknesses from 200 to 400 microns in platinum and 10% rhodium/platinum.  Johnson Matthey can offer the complete set of feeder consumables (spout, orifice rings, tube and plungers) and can even coat AZS (for furnace blocks) using an innovative laser drilling technology.  Coated mandrels and lipstones are also available.

Fabrications / ZGS

Fabrications range from simple parts, sheet and tubes to more complex items such as clad stirrers, feeder chambers and refiners.  Johnson Matthey also offers ZGS materials (zirconia grain stabilised) for increased strength and service life and manufacturers iridium fabrications.  This metal provides extensive chemical and high temperature mechanical properties for high quality glass manufacturing processes.

Precious metal recovery

Johnson Matthey offers full PGM recovery of all its products (including ACT® coatings) with typical metal returns of greater than 95%.
